1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair

Founded in 2013 by Touria El Glaoui, 1-54 is the first and only international fair dedicated to contemporary African art. With three editions per year—in London, New York and Marrakech—as well as an annual pop-up fair in Paris, 1-54 is the leading global art fair committed to providing visibility to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. Striving to promote a community of diverse perspectives, including evolving interpretations of the diasporic experience, 1-54 features leading international galleries specializing in contemporary African art alongside artists talks, panel discussions and a Special Projects programme. The fair’s name draws reference to the fifty-four countries that constitute the African continent.

Dream Ball, The Art Students League

On Saturday, May 20, the Art Students League of New York is hosting a Dream Ball and invites you to enjoy cocktails, music, and dancing in the League’s landmark building on 57th Street. Be ready to meet artists, professionals of the creative industry, makers, and shakers on a dance floor enjoying music by DJ Black Helmet in the historic Vanderbilt Gallery, which will be transformed into the ballroom on the occasion of the Dream Ball. Artist Guy Richards Smit will emcee a costume parade, with a prize awarded for the most Creative ensemble, chosen by special guest judge Murray Hill.
The POW members get reciprocal membership benefit and can purchase $50 tickets indicating their affiliation with POWarts at the checkout. The price includes access to a 3-hour open bar. The dress code is “creative cocktail attire" / festive / costumes/sparkles /something wild strongly encouraged!
